Dental & Vision Plans
Dental and vision modules are usually optional add-ons to core medical cover. Dental is often split into routine (examinations, hygiene, small fillings) and major (crowns, bridges, implants, orthodontics), with separate annual limits or waiting periods for major work. Insurers may pay a percentage of costs rather than full reimbursement, and networks can differ from your medical network.
Vision benefits vary: some plans contribute toward eye tests and lenses or contact lenses up to a modest cap; others offer little beyond medically necessary eye treatment linked to disease. “Vision” in marketing materials does not always mean high-street optical spend is covered.
If you use regular dental care in multiple countries, check currency of limits, whether claims must be in-network, and whether preventive visits reset each policy year. Major dental often carries a waiting period of several months to reduce anti-selection. We can compare how different schedules treat families with children who may need orthodontics.
